Description
COPSIL 12 is a translucent 12 Shore A RTV-2 silicone elastomer primarily designed for the manufacture of flexible components and custom liners. Its low hardness, high elasticity, and excellent mechanical properties make it suitable for applications where comfort is a key requirement.
COPSIL 12 is part of the COPSIL silicone range developed by COP for orthotic, prosthetic, and technical applications. It is suitable for skin contact and complies with ISO 10993-5 requirements.
Technical Characteristics
The COPSIL 12 RTV-2 silicone elastomer is a two-component system consisting of a resin and a hardener. Both components are mixed in equal proportions before curing at room temperature through a platinum-catalyzed addition-curing reaction. The curing process can be accelerated by applying heat.
Available in Standard and Fast versions, COPSIL 12 allows processing times to be adapted to the manufacturing method. At 20°C, the working time is approximately:
- 1 hour for the Standard version
- 30 minutes for the Fast version
The demolding time is approximately:
- 2 hours for the Standard version
- 1 hour 15 minutes for the Fast version
After curing, COPSIL 12 exhibits a hardness of approximately 12 Shore A (equivalent to 60 Shore 00). Its elongation at break reaches approximately 950%. Its viscosity after mixing makes it suitable for casting applications. The material can also be pigmented, providing additional customization options for the finished component.
